WP 6 – European Road Safety Information System

D6.3 Final proposal of EuroRIS

The European Commission has set itself the challenging target of 50% less road fatalities in 2010 than in 2001. This reduction in fatalities by 2010 will only be achieved by the introduction of the most effective countermeasures. The EC has expressed the demand for a "Road Safety Observatory" in its 2001 White Paper and other public documents.

Part of the SafetyNet project is the construction of a European Road Safety Information System (EuroRIS). EuroRIS should provide an easy way for all potential users to retrieve up to date information on road safety in the European member states.

The aim of this document is to support decision making about this road safety information system: what can be reasonably done, what can be said about investment and operation costs, and what are the expected benefits? Specifications will be presented on how to decide on the content and form of the system. The ultimate aim of the system is to contribute to the improvement of road safety in Europe, through better informed professionals and better informed road users.

D6.4 'Real' prototype of EuroRIS

Before the ERSO website was launched in May 2006, a prototype was developed and tested. Deliverable D6.4 comprises this prototype. It was not publicly available.

D6.10 User Group testing report

This report presents the results from two user group testing session on the ERSO website in the period 2005-2006, and the implications of these results for the design of the website in terms of structure and content. This report is only disseminated to the members of the SafetyNet consortium. Its purpose is to report on the work in progress, and the current status of the user group testing.

The first user group testing has led to the current structure and content of the website. The second has served as a test whether it is in line with needs of the user group. We conclude that the website in its current form is positively received by large groups of users. This has been achieved by involving users in the early stages of its development. In 2007 a final user group study will be carried out. We aim to involve a user group that is broader in outlook and more representative of the potential user group we aim for. The second half of 2007 will be used to adapt the website on the basis of the results of this last user group testing.

D6.28 ERSO Promotion Pack

What is the ERSO Promotion Pack?

The ERSO Promotion Pack contains a variety of ready-to-use materials (e.g. the ERSO logo, a press release, a flyer) that have been designed to promote the ERSO website. The ERSO Promotion Pack is intended to enable people who wish to promote ERSO to spread the word within their own professional circle. The end goal is to inform road safety professionals around the world about the European Road Safety Observatory (ERSO).

Why should you promote the ERSO website?

The ERSO website is the main gateway to a central source of European road safety data, knowledge, and links and therefore is an essential website for all road safety professionals. It is a unique source for policymakers and researchers wishing to obtain details of traffic crash related information.

How can you use the ERSO Promotion Pack to promote the ERSO website?

The materials in the ERSO Promotion Pack can be used freely to promote the ERSO website. For example: the ERSO logo can be placed on your organisation's website, the press release can be used in your organisation's newsletter, or the flyer can be distributed at a road safety conference you plan to attend.
