The Austrian Road Safety Board (KfV) organises its diverse fields of activity into three departments:
- Transport & Mobility
- Home, Leisure & Sports
- Property & Fire
The Department of Transport & Mobility is active in all common fields of road safety work particularly accident statistics and traffic engineering, driver education and vehicle technology, traffic education and traffic psychology (e.g. driver aptitude assessment, driver training).
The KfV has also been involved in numerous projects of the 4th and 5th R&D Framework Programme (e.g. ANDREA, ADVISORS, DAN, DUMAS, ESCAPE, GADGET, SARTRE, etc), other EU-projects, COST Actions and in a number of working groups at Commission level. It maintains close contacts with leading transport research institutes in Europe and is an active member of the international organisations FERSI and ETSC.
